Mineral makeup: The new secret to a bride's beauty

The one basic requisite of every bride is to look beautiful, breathtakingly beautiful on her wedding day. Does that mean reeling under layers of makeup all night long which ultimately gives a blotchy look? No! Ladies, make way for mineral makeup, the new beauty mantra.

Well, historically speaking, mineral makeup was being used in ancient civilizations of Egypt, China and India years ago. So that explains the ethereal beauty of Cleopatra and Shakuntala! In the last few years, much speculation has been raised about this new boon to womankind.

WHAT IS MINERAL MAKEUP
In simple words, mineral makeup is 100 % natural and is made from the natural minerals found on the Earth, like zinc oxide, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, and the likes. It is said to be free of chemicals, dyes, alcohol and artificial fragrances. Pure mineral makeup is combined with inorganic coloring matter to achieve the desired color.

WHY MINERAL MEKEUP
The biggest advantage of mineral makeup is its loose powdery form. With no liquid in the mixture, there is no expiry date. Secondly, it is able to absorb moisture on the skin due to its dry texture. Thus, even on a humid day when makeup tends to run and smear, mineral makeup won't leave you in despair. Thirdly, mineral makeup is said to be hypoallergenic, thus no worrying about clogged pores and skin rashes. Finally, the texture of mineral makeup is light and gives the skin a natural, clear and translucent quality.

SKIN BENEFITS
As the makeup kit is completely natural, the benefits to the skin are numerous. Zinc oxide, for example, has sun protection properties and also helps to reduce inflammation. It has been used in the treatment of skin rashes. Titanium dioxide is a sunscreen and is used in sunscreen lotions and creams. Also, titanium, gold, zinc, magnesium, etc., help to refresh and rejuvenate the skin. They do not cover up the skin and thus, allow the pores to be free to breathe. In fact, the minerals also soothe the skin and can therefore be used on the skin after laser and peel treatments.

HOW TO APPLY
As with any makeup technique, cleanse your face to remove any traces of dirt, oil or grime. Choose a cleanser that contains a moisturizer. One pointer for applying mineral makeup is to possess a variety of different-sized brushes. Start by applying the foundation with the largest brush, followed by a smaller blush to apply the blush. Remember to use the smallest brush while you adorn your eyes.

Leave aside the liquid, cream-based makeup kits for a healthier alternative. Let the minerals work upon you to give a tantalizingly natural look on your D-day.
